SDC Project Implemented by Helvetas and MDA

Promotion of women-led professions on the occasion of International Girls Day

Girls are being told over and over they can make a difference in their world. But they’re confronted with realities in their families, communities and countries challenging that ideal. They continue to be the lesser-paid, lesser-hired and lesser-appreciated members of society as they seek to join the workforce.

Therefore on the occasion of the International Girls Day on 11 October, the Career Centers of Prishtina and Vushtrri municipalities organized a “Career Tour” for the girls of VET schools, with the aim of empowering them and raising their awareness to succeed in their future career and the removal of stereotypes for gender-specific occupations.

The career tour took place in Peja, respectively in the companies ‘ELKOS’ and ‘Peja Beer’, where 40 girls from the 12th grade VET schools from Vushtrri and Prishtina had the opportunity to understand the career path and the professional life of the managers, engineers and technologists in these companies.

The activity was supported by “Enhancing Youth Employment (EYE)” project of Swiss Agency for Cooperation (SDC) implemented by the consortium HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Kosovo (HSIK) and Management Development Associates (MDA), in close cooperation with the Municipality of Peja and the project “Youth and Employment” implemented by Solidar Suisse Kosovo.

EYE takes a systems approach to problem understanding and an adaptive approach to management.
