On the first networking event, the S4RE Project brought together relevant stakeholders to present and discuss the achievements of the Program during the 2013. The event served to strengthen the bond and acknowledge both the contribution and the achievements of the involved actors. 40 event participants shared their experience and had the opportunity to listen to presentations made by Mr. Luan Hoti, S4RE Project Manager, Mr. Gemb Shehu, IT Service Provider, and Ms. Jadranka Vasic, Patisserie Service Provider. Following brief information of the structure and the goals of the Program, Mr. Hoti presented to the audience the work and achievement of the Program during 2013, and was Inclusive in his speech. He spoke of project aspects and concretely made mention of the engagement of 9 facilitators/field assistants, training of 200 youth in different fields, of which 80% women and 25% minorities, co-financing of 7 start-up business plans, training of around 500 beneficiary farmers in potential sectors, support of 16 farmers in preparation of project proposals for application submitted before the supporting institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development etc. He concluded by wishing all the participants a fruitful cooperation and success in the future.
Mr. Gemb Shehu, spoke of his involvement in the project as a Trainer. Following brief background information, he elaborated on the IT aspect of the project he was involved in. “We trained an enthusiastic group of 18 young men from Novoberde in the field of information technology, i.e. computer networks. Not only did they gain knowledge, but the training increased their self confidence. Undoubtedly, this will serve to put their knowledge to use in the long run and ensure sustainable employment, as well as to be competitive in their small market. As result of the training provided by the S4RE, the youth of the Novobrdo will now undertake the task of ensuring internet services and Information technology for their town”, he said.
The third speaker, Ms. Vasic, also informed the audience of her involvement in the project and activities carried out in training of 14 young women in the patisserie business. She commended the work of the trainer provided by the S4RE and provided details regarding the number of beneficiaries, venue of training etc. “As result of the project, 4 young women are now employed in my patisserie. Now that the project is successfully finalized, and having been trained ourselves, we can say that we are able to provide training for others. The project reached its goal. It provided employment opportunities and sustainability for the youth”, she said
At the end of the event, in a pleasant atmosphere, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 30 participants.
All participants were encouraged by the achievements and expressed their interest to pursue the established course of activities. The event concluded on a positive note that the future of rural development is bright and, as proved by the achievements, it brings positive impact.
