In a joint initiative, the S4RE Project and Collection and Processing Center “Hit Flores” in Dragas, identified 20 individuals from rural areas who will receive support in establishing new orchards for cultivation of raspberries. The orchards will be established in a surface of 0.1 hectare each and will be co-financed by three parties. Hit Flores will supply each farmer with 850 seedlings participating with 35% of the total cost of this project, farmers with 35% and S4RE with 30% in order to purchase the irrigation system, support system, etc. S4RE and Hit Flores will further support the farmers by engaging experienced trainers to ensure succesfull progres. In light of the increased market demand for fresh raspberries, cultivation of this fruit provides a good opportunity for farmers to generate income. Moreover, as 20 youth are expected to be engaged by the beneficiary farmers, expectations are that it might be a great job creating opportunity.
